RHNS Salamis | The battleship that never was
RHNS Salamis was to be the Flagship of the Royal Hellenic Navy, but due too the First World War, and obsolescence post war, she remained an incomplete hulk, until she was sent for scrapping in 1932.
Here is the Story of that ship

HMS Monmouth | 1901 | 1st November 1914 Tribute
Переглядів 6218 місяців тому
On this day, 109 years ago, HMS Monmouth, alongside HMS Good Hope, was sunk at the battle of Coronel, on November 1st, 1914. This would become the first loss for the Royal Navy since the War of 1812. Since I am new to using 3D models in UE5, and only have the model of HMS Monmouth at this time, I have decided to focus on this ship in this video. Please also remember, I am still new to UE5, and ...

First look at the new model of HMS Monmouth (As commissioned in 1903) I have tweaked a few things since the M15 Test sail. I have added in a bow wave (i think I need to make it a bit larger), and the wake appears occasionally. Smoke is a bit wispy, but I think it looks good. Test sail with HMS M15. Can't seem to get the wakes, and bow waves to animate at the moment. However, I wanted to show some progress in my video editing capabilities. You can hear the sounds of the ocean, and the waves rolling, but below that, you can hear the sounds of the ship's engines, slowly chugging away. EP.2 of the construction of the Abercrombie class monitors. In this instalment, I started the internal ribs/frames. It turns out that the ribs are harder then once thought, so I changed tact and went to build the exterior hull. With the exterior done, I can move on towards redoing the internal ribs, adding in the bulkheads and adding in he decks. Sources: 1drv.ms/u/s!Am5DluRm0Pjaozuc7_qZDjHkXuG...

Would have made sense as a fleet flagship instead of the abused future special underwater ship. But neither they would have been able to maintain. Like with software devs, people need to understand its one level to build a cool thing but a whole different level to maintain and upgrade it.

Served aboard the Gregory DD802 and the Mullany DD528 in the early 60's as a Sonarman. Eventually SOG2. Gregory (eventually scrapped as a result) was in a collision with McDermut DD677 during ASW ops off of San Diego in 1963 when I transferred to Mullany to finish out my 4 years during the '63- '64 WESPAC cruise. Fond memories. Those were real hard core fighting ships. They would really take a pounding in heavy seas. Lots of Plane Guard duty chasing carriers. There were still WWII sailors aboard then to show us youngsters the Navy way. Liberty was a blast overseas.

Thank you. Somehow an effect of this particular HMS Hood bio made apparent the amazing length of her service. And she seemed to be prima inter pares, and a core element of a rapid and powerful squadron. The Hood with Renown, 2 late Town class 12 gun light cruisers, and 4 destroyers. I can't help but to wonder about those 4 destroyers, possibly a Tribal flotilla.

There is no evidence whatsoever for your explanation as to how Hood was sunk. In fact, there was no "trough in the ship's wake" and there is no eyewitness testimony of a shell landing just short of Hood. Hood was well- known throughout the fleet in 1941 as a very wet ship because she rode so low in the water, and the last photograph of her bears that out- showing a ship whose quarterdeck is awash with waves within just a few feet of "Y" turret. It's worth your time to read Marder's book "From the Dardanelles to Oran" for Captain Leach's and Commander Lawson's actual views on how Hood was sunk. I'm 'not' saying that their opinion is fact because far too much of Hood is missing for the true cause to ever be known for certain. That said their case is a good one- at the very least as good as any "million- to- one" shot.

In 1982 the Argentinian Marines took what is part of Argentina again, without hurting anybody living in the Islands. Just to let you know the complete true story.

She sat so low her stern well deck was constantly being washed over by waves in anything but a calm sea. I worked for years with a sailor who was transferred over to destroyers for radar training three days before she sailed after the Bismark. She was a beautiful ship but her demise has glorified her out of proportion in the British mind. HMS Vanguard was more beautiful in my opinion. Vanguard’s main turrets gears and motors still today elivate and turn the radio telescope at Jodrell Bank.
